Sir Bob Geldof, a widely respected counselor at the One Young World 2012 Summit, spoke at the opening ceremony and was a featured counselor during the second plenary session regarding transparency and integrity in global business and government.

Geldof rose to fame through his Irish rock band The Boomtown Rats in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He is best known, however, as the creator and founder of Live Aid and Band Aid, as well as well as the co-author of the song “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”

In an interview, rock star/philanthropist Geldof told Pittsburgh Youth Media what he hopes delegates will take away from this year’s summit.

Christian and Sophie, this shows remarkable teamwork. Listening to the audio while watching the photo had me blinking back tears; you managed to capture and convey a larger-than-life-moment with clarity.
