A few months ago I had only vaguely heard of Pittsburgh Youth Media, but through the advice of my mentors and teachers, I decided to actually join the program this year. I am involved with my school, Baldwin High School’s, newspaper, the Purbalite, and so I also joined in hopes of expanding my journalistic opportunities and abilities. All my life I have had an interest of writing because of inspiration of my brother and father. Although my love for journalism grew in my freshman year of high school when I took an Introduction to Journalism course and fell in love with the format. As I become a junior this school year I will serve as a Design Editor on the semester produced paper. This year, I hope to cover interesting events and shed light on people and organizations that I believe should be recognized by broader groups of people!

Zoe Vongtau is a 16 year old resident of Baldwin and Baldwin Whitehall High School. She will serve as a Design Editor this year on her school newspaper, The Purbalite. She is interested in photography, poetry and believes Alright by Kendrick Lamar is actually a spiritual song.
