To most of us, Pittsburgh is just our little city, the same place it has always been. We’re so used to seeing our city and being here that we rarely become impressed. Of course this year Pittsburgh was chosen to hold the One Young World Summit, where young leaders from countries all over the world are able to come together and share their wisdom with each other. Friendships form between delegates of the most unlikely countries. The summit is where everyone can sit down and be at peace no matter what is going on at home in our countries. The delegates are able to come together and enjoy each others’ company, getting to know one another through seminars they sit through and break out sessions they attend. This year, Pittsburgh was allowed to get their youth involved through a youth media program. Students from different schools and neighborhoods also had the opportunity to talk to one another. The students selected through the youth media program are also reporting on the summit. Students were able to form friendships with different delegates from all over the world, many exchanging contact information. The summit being held in Pittsburgh this year, allowed many of the delegates an opportunity to see Pittsburgh for their first time, some even seeing America for their first time. The delegates are all being held up in hotels around pittsburgh, many say they are enjoying their stay here. Last night, the delegates were able to explore the Pittsburgh night life for themselves. Kicking off the third day, is a breakfast at the David L. Lawrence convention center. After the breakfast, their is a plenary session about health and disabilities. From physical disablitlites such as cerebral palsy to living your daily life with HIV. Each session has been about something different but each holds so much wonderful information for the delegates to take in. We still have one more day left for the summit and I’m sure that like myself, the rest whether delegate, ambassador, observer, or media cannot wait for what’s in store.
